This high-end single family residence in Beverly Hills, California is located on a steep uphill site with the main frontage facing a local canyon street.
Given the proximity of this residence to the City Civic Center, the overall intent of the design was to create an urban situation while still maintaining a relationship to the mountainous canyon context. This was achieved programmatically by locating the living level on the top floor while the more privatized program spaces interact with the hillside in section. These elements then act as a base for the living level exposing these spaces to constant natural light, ventilation and canyon views.
By using a soft color scheme, proportional volumes and a palette of natural materials this residence blends well with the natural canyon and is unassuming in its overall mass and site relationship.</description>
